What's Happening in March?
Welcome to our email letter full of updates from Art Space, calls for art, exhibition news, and other fun things!
Art Space regular schedule:
Art Space is open Monday through Friday from 10AM-3PM. We now have Tuesday Tours with Leslie! Please schedule all tours for Tuesdays between 12PM-2PM.
We will be opening back up our late Wednesdays on March 18th! Our new Wednesday hours will be 10AM-6PM.
On March 11th from 3-4:30PM, we will be visiting the Riffe Gallery downtown to see the Quilting exhibit! To be added to the list to go, reach out to Emerald. Leslie will be driving the van so we need to know how many people are coming.
The next online meeting will be on 3/10/26 from 1-1:45PM. After that, the next meeting will be 3/24/26. Always on a Tuesday! The link will be sent out the day before, with a reminder the day of. If you’ve been missed from the meetings email list, please let me know! I’ll be happy to add you.
Upcoming Events
The Heart of Concord Art Market will be May 2nd from 1-4PM! Applications are out now, check your email or scroll down for the application links! Applications are also available in paper copy at Art Space. Due March 13th.
We are having a new workshop, hosted by our intern Kel! It is a bookmaking workshop on March 13th from 2-5PM. More info on the flyer below! This workshop is open to both Art Space members and the community.
Columbus Fury Arts and Culture night is tonight, 3/10, at 6PM! Come support Art Space at our first sports-themed tabling event! Discount tickets are available for Art Space members, check out this link: http://bit.ly/40D99Dh
There are also $10 Party Zone tickets available day of match only. They are walk up at the box office tickets.Introducing our new meet-up, Talent Talk Troupe! On Tuesday, March 25th from 5-6PM, we will be joining together to talk about plays, movies, and musicals. We are also hosting the opportunity to share your acting and singing skills! All levels welcome, we’re also looking for group facilitators and mentors.

Call for writing! We’re looking to collect some quotes from our artists that describe what Art Space means to them, what they like to do here, or how the community has helped them for our new website. But anything you would like to share is welcome! If you would like to volunteer, please email your writing to rgonzalez@concordcounseling.org. The writing can also be anonymous. Thank you!!

Disability EmpowHer Network - Disabled Women Make History (and Art)
Deadline: 11:59pm ET on April 19th, 2026
Artist submissions are now being accepted for Disabled Women Make History (and Art), an art show hosted by DEN and the Toledo Museum of Art celebrating disabled women*!
The opening reception for this show will be on June 20, 2026, and the show will remain on display through July 31, 2026 at the Toledo Museum of Art in celebration of Disability Pride Month!
Artists selected will be invited to display their work at this event and receive admission to two exclusive workshops to enhance their skills in marketing themselves and their artwork.

Percent for Art - Ohio Arts Council
Deadline: April 24, 2026
The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) in partnership with the Friends of the Library and Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) will present the annual Ohio Artist Registry Juried exhibition, featuring work from artists who are members of the Ohio Artist Registry (OAR). The 2026 exhibition will be themed “Commemorating America 250” honoring the nation’s 250th anniversary by exploring America’s history, culture, and future through the perspectives of Ohio artists.

Common Greens - Clintonville Farmers Market
Local Artist T-Shirt Design Contest Guidelines
Deadline: March 16th, 2026
Theme: Design must include “Clintonville Farmers Market” and “2026”. Think food and community!
Colors: The winning design will be printed on a solid color t-shirt. Please submit your design in either black, white or both.
Design Software: Designs must be digital.
*Your design must be entirely original- no clip art, copyrighted, or AI generated material allowed. Keep it simple: one color designs only, and make sure it’s print-ready.(If you need help with making your traditional artwork digital, reach out to Rebecca!)

Art Related Events
Last week, Art Possible Ohio and the Wexner Center for the Arts had a screening of the award winning feature documentary “No One Cares About Crazy People”.

Bexley Public Library is hosting a special art making session where participants follow along with an episode of The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross. Come ready to paint happy trees in a fun and relaxed environment. Supplies will be provided. Registration opens 3/2 and is required.

Ohio Arts Council
Artists with Disabilities Access Program (ADAP)
Deadline: May 1st
The Artists with Disabilities Access Program (ADAP) provides funding that gives individual artists with disabilities the resources they need to further their artistic development. Creative expression by artists of all abilities is essential to building dynamic and diverse communities throughout Ohio. ADAP awards help artists with disabilities advance their artistic practices, making Ohio a more accessible and inclusive place to build an artistic career.
Important: This is an extensive grant. If you wish to apply, it is best to start soon. Reach out for more information and where to receive assistance with filling out the grant application.

Workshop
Writing an Artist Statement that Shines
The Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) will be hosting a workshop here in Columbus focused on how to craft a strong, compelling artist statement. This session is designed to help artists of all backgrounds clarify their voice, communicate their practice, and strengthen the written materials often required for exhibitions, grants, and professional opportunities.
Sayuri Matsuura Ayers, poet/writer/arts educator, will guide you through a highly engaging workshop. Through a series of questions, discussion, writing and sharing, you will come away with a personal artist statement that clearly captures your current practice and showcases your vision.
