Lovely But Dead
Pulp Stiction: Collage as an Act of Resistance
Deadline: June 30th, 2026
Collage was conceived in defiance and it has since belonged to those who refuse to accept the world on the terms it was handed to them. You take what exists. You tear it apart. You rebuild your reality. That is the tradition you are working in.
This is a national open call for collage artists. There is no entry fee. We are looking for work that engages, in whatever way feels true to you, with collage as an act of resistance. That could mean political dissent. It could mean personal survival. Cultural reclamation. Grief. Rage. Community. Joy. The refusal to be erased. There is no single correct answer. The tradition is wide and it belongs to everyone.

Film Recommendations:
Paris is Burning - June’s Pride Month Essential Viewing
This film chronicles the ball culture of New York City and the African-American, Latino, gay and transgender communities involved in it.
Critics consider the film to be an invaluable documentary of the end of the “Golden Age” of New York City Ballroom scene, and a thoughtful exploration of race, class, gender and sexuality in America.
In 2016, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.”

Something Fun!
Queering the Map is a community generated counter-mapping platform for digitally archiving LGBTQ2IA+ experience in relation to physical space.
The platform provides an interface to collaboratively record the cartography of queer life—from park benches to the middle of the ocean—in order to preserve our histories and unfolding realities, which continue to be invalidated, contested, and erased.
Through mapping LGBTQ2IA+ experience in its intersectional permutations, the project works to generate affinities across difference and beyond borders — revealing the ways in which we are intimately connected.
Starting conversations can be difficult. Here’s some fun ways to connect with others:
